Councilor Charisse Abalos, together with her mom, Mandaluyong City First Lady Menchie Abalos recently led the world’s largest All-Women Aerobics Dance Exercise in one Location during a fitness event highlighting International Women’s Month Celebration. More than 26, 000 women of various age bracket participated in the activity held in the long stretch of Martinez Highway in Brgy. Addition Hills last March 15.
The event surpassed Cebu’s Zumba Dance Exercises of 2014, which approximately recorded more than 8, 500 only by the Guinness Book of World Record.
“The All-Women Aerobics Dance Exercises of Mandaluyong is a testament of women empowerment”, stressed Mrs. Menchie Abalos, who was recently elected twice as the President of the Nutrition Action Officer of the Philippines Association (NAOPA). According to Abalos, it is time that women nowadays should also allot time and effort for their own health and nutrition apart from taking good care of their kids and husband at home. Billed as “Kayang-kaya Mag Sayaw Project”, the event is a collaborative undertaking of the City Government of Mandaluyong and the Kababaihan Kakaiba ng Mandaluyong (KKM), which aims to promote health and fitness of women across the city’s 27 barangays.
Mandaluyong City’s bid for a new world record is another achievement in line with the numerous recognitions and awards the city has reaped recently. The city holds the Best In Health and Nutrition Program Implementation in the country for three consecutive years, which earned them the automatic ticket to achieve the 1st Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition or the Crown Awards conferred by the Department of Health and the National Nutritional Council.
